We also had alot of retired players and lots of players who came just for fun. We had a total of 42 competitors and gave away $1540 and $1500 in merchandise prizes. The "big" prizes were Just Go Scooters, a Camelback back pack and Oakley sunglasses. We had a great response to our tournament T shirt design. Players packs consisted of a T shirt, Dirt Bag footbag (while they lasted), Oakley poster, stickers, something from a grab box (while they lasted) and the Official Rules of Footbag sports (arrived Sat). The weather was fine and the spectator numbers were great. The matches and routines were spectacular and the skills contests were quite competitive. We had to have some judges' reviews on Iron Man between Eric Wulff and Sunil Jani. Next year, we'll have 2 golf holes to avoid the "bigger guy" advantage. Chuck Donnelly gets the guts award for going big in the Poaching contest when just getting it over would have given him the win instead of 2nd. We test marketed a new Ultra Man Skills Contest. Eric Wulff was the winner of this boarder cross event of footbag. It needs to be refined. The evening get togethers were special as usual. Several people were involved in various chess games and others were entertained by a radically humerous video CKY2K. You might see some creative footbag with bubble wrap and size 60 pants in the future. (You know how it is- monkey see, monkey do) We also toasted the Beaver Open and all the fun folks there. You made it a year to remember. The play seems to get better and better as each year passes. I also want to say thank you to all the volunteers who put forth the effort to make it all possible. There were many of you and you know who you are. YOU ROCK! Now that the final Worlds results have been posted I regret to announce some bad news. I had hoped to say it sooner but the follow up took a bit of time. An error has been discovered with the Intermediate Freestyle Finals results. Upon review of the results, it was found that third place was awarded incorrectly. Initially, Juha Linnanen from Finland was announced in third place, but after examining the final scores, it turned out that Juha finished in seventh place with a score of 14.98 and Matt Emmings finished in third place, scoring 15.98. This mistake resulted from reading the standings from a set-up report, which is used to prepare the next round, rather than the final results themselves. The set-up report didn't show the actual scores, only the placings, which is why it wasn't noticed right away. All of the judging sheets have been checked against the inputted data and confirm the scores. All other scores were checked again and no other errors were found. My apologies go out to Juha for the mistake. I know he has been very proud of this accomplishment which is why this is not an easy thing to have to do. On one hand, you have a player that has been celebrating his placing and you don't want to take that away from him. On the other hand, you have a player that performed his routine and the judges thought it was good enough for third place. Therefore, it would be unjust not to reward the effort he so rightly deserves. Congratulations to Matt. Also, my apologies for not announcing this sooner. I wanted to make sure of the result before posting. Kick hard!
