Two things you need to know about this event at http://www.footbag.org/events/show/1061212821 : 1) SLIGHT Date Change: Correct dates are December 27-29 (Saturday, Sunday and Monday). It is Saturday, Sunday and Monday - Competition on Saturday and Sunday. 2) The Second Annual U.S. Open Footbag Freestyle Championships is being renamed to be the "19th Annual Midwest Regional Footbag Championships" because I was unable to run my annual event during the summer this year as usual, and I don't want to break a 19-year streak. The 19th Annual Midwest Regional Footbag Championships (IFPA Sanctioned) is taking place at McCormick Place in Chicago (as a part of "Holiday Sports Festival"), Illinois on December 27-29. Actual competition will all take place on Saturday, December 27th and Sunday the 28th... Monday is "all shred, all day, please join us on Monday the 29th of December for footbag exhibitions, demonstrations, clinics and random shred sessions all day. Saturday and Sunday will be competition all day for all levels of play, and over $1,000.00 prize purse for the pro's . Monday will be a big shred day for everyone! We are going to have an interactive site at the "Holiday Sports Fest" and we are looking for people to help us to run the "instructional" part of the event. We are still looking for helpers. By helping, you won't be subjecting yourself to full days of tyrannical work schedules, rather you will be a part of a team of people who will be presenting our sport to the children of the City of Chicago, in shifts, from Noon to 5 on Sunday and Monday. We are running a "Clif Bar Challenge" where we invite kids to first sign a waiver, then try kicking a footbag. If they get 25 kicks in a row, they win a footbag but they get a Clif Bar just for trying, while supplies last. We are also running a fun event on Monday ("All Shred") that will ensure that all entrants get to shred with all of our top professionals, including many BAP members. We will have "organized shred circles" with 1 pro per circle and a rotation schedule, with loud music and fun for all. The Holiday Sports Fest is an event designed to introduce all kinds of sports to the general public, and each sport has an interactive area where kids can try them out. Some sports also have major tournaments going on, such as Volleyball, Soccer and 3-on-3 Basketball (and now, Footbag). With Free Parking and Free Admission to the event, this is a great event to bring the family to (Derrick?), it's lots of fun for all! Sponsors include Quizno's, Cliff Bar, Freedom Footbags and worldfootbag.com. Complete information will be posted at http://www.footbag.org soon. Hotel Info: HYATT REGENCY CHICAGO 2233 S. Martin L. King Dr. Chicago, Illinois 60616-9985 http://mccormickplace.hyatt.com/property/index.jhtml Connected to the event site through tunnels, this hotel is an AWESOME deal for only $75 a night! Be sure to tell them you are with the "Mayors Holiday Sports Festival". Last year there were rooms available at the last minute, but no guarantees on that... so call them direct NOW at: Tel: +1 312 567 1234 and ask for Reservations. If the footbag.org/events website doesn't answer your questions, contact me directly. See ya there! The tentative dates that we announced earlier have been changed to: ***> July 25 - August 1, 2004 <** NOTE: Please disregard our previous announcement, since the dates changed. These are the final dates. This will make it possible for footbag legend Kenny Shults to orchestrate his come back in singles net and try to stop Emmanuel Bouchard's solo ride (6 titles in a row) which we are very excited about. The finals net site will be in Jeanne-Mance park, a very crowded venue on Sundays and we will have a 750 seats mini stadium built there for the 3 last days of competition. The freestyle venue will be awesome too, the finals night will be happening at the Rialto Theater on July 31st, a place that can seat around 1,000 spectators in a very nice atmosphere as the main floor is set up with tables and chairs and a bar service. Now we have to find the prelims sites but that's an easier situation. We will attempt to have a daily press release from the sites and we target to have a bank of 3000 sports and related medias in our system to feed it to. Everywhere in the World that has a significant footbag activity should be covered. Anyone interested in helping me out setting up the database for this project please contact me personally at: yevez@prokicker.ca , do not respond to the list as it would be irrelevant. Held since 1999 in Montpellier by Icarus Footbag, the biggest French footbag event is moving to Lyon, hosted by Les Footbaguignols. We'll hold a strong DOUBLES NET event and offer a thorough freestyle competition with ROUTINES (women, open & intermediate), SHRED 30 sec, SICK 3, all of which will take place in a gym. On Saturday night, we'll move to a big brewery and throw a hell of footbag party with : videos (Worlds 03 by the producers of Buda's Best), official 4 square, breakbeat live with Future Funky Breaks (2 DJs, 1 MC + 1 digital-sound-twisting freak) and a TEAM FREESTYLE BATTLE. Directly inspired by breakdance battles : teams of 4 or 5 freestylers will battle, using the format and style of their choice (single shred, doubles shred, synchro, jokes, psychological warfare) to challenge, humiliate and defeat their opponents. We think this format can be much more fun than singles formats for both the kickers and the audience, and closer to a circle spiritÖ Book your week-end. Plan your trip. Stay tuned for further details, or check the event listing: http://www.footbag.org/events/show/1069791565 Eric (ericd@footbag.org) on behalf of the French Footbag Association, Les Footbaguignols & HACKTIVIST.
