Sender: owner-announce@footbag.org Sorry for the long delay, but I've been out of town a lot since Worlds and have only now finished putting together all the results on the web. The official World Championships results are available in GORY DETAIL at: http://www.footbag.org/worlds97/results/ This includes the overall results to the last place for each player. But please note: if you didn't compete in every event, your overall result won't make much sense. :-) So don't be upset if you came in near the bottom of the list; it usually implies you competed in just one (intermediate) event. Thanks to Kevin Riemer and Sharon Speck for the data I used to create the results on the web (they managed all the results throughout the week of Worlds, including much time sitting in front of the computer entering data, either during registration or during the event itself). Also, thanks to Brent Welch for his help in creating the detailed freestyle results. If you don't have access to the web, I can e-mail you all the results in text-only format. Enjoy. We had beautiful weather all weekend, clear, blue skies and 80 degrees. Forty-eight competitors (28 intermediate/open players and 20 novice) entered. Freestyle demonstrations were held Friday, Saturday, and Sunday in the downtown crowds. Tim Kelly, Becca English-Ross, and Free F.L.O.E. members Iain McKechnie, Forest Schrodt, Will Webb, and Ben Kersens performed. Gary Lautt's consecutive record attempt ended early Friday during the changing of a headband. Gary kicked 8,352 kicks and enjoyed the rest of the day at The Eugene Celebration. The Crux Rock Gym was most supportive and accomodating. Gary and Tricia George are planning an attempt to break their own Doubles Consecutive record of 123,456 kicks this November in Chico, Ca. This is a Pro-Am doubles net event, and a freestyle jam and shred contest. In net, this is your opportunity to pair up, at random, with some of the best competitors in footbag for some doubles net fun. Even if you have never played net before, this is a great day to learn how. There is also a freestyle shred contest, and plenty of circle kicking and pickup games. The event is FREE, although we are asking for a small donation $1-$5 per person to offset the cost of mailing and reserving the field for the event. Please arrive by 11:00 to be included in the Pro-Am event. Peacock Meadow is in the very east end of Golden Gate Park in San Francisco near the intersection of Fell and Stanyan. Park along Fell as you approach the park, then walk into the park on J.F.K. drive, which is closed to cars on Sunday. Peacock meadow is on your right, just before the large white Conservatory of Flowers building.
