Had 55 competitors competing for 2 beautiful, but hot days. The finals events were delayed an hour on the third day due to a severe thunderstorm that moved through at noon. It blew away 200 out of 250 vendor tents and blew down 10 trees on the other side of the river. We lost no tents and only one tree on the island. That was just the start of the day. We had 3 dropless freestyle routines and had crowned a queen instead of king of freestyle. Both net teams wanted to win the Doubles Net $ so bad, the last game went to 20-18. We added a mixed net on Sunday due to popular request and that finals game wouldn't end either. Jason and Manu must be the problem. Our award ceremony was at the site, but afterwards 20+ competitors went to a local brew pub and concluded that it would make a great place for the award ceremony next year. There should be time for other pick-up games both before and after the PRO-AM event. This year there is Reggae in the Park at the same time, and its right across the way in Sharon Meadow. This makes for great tunes and good crowds, but parking will suck. If you arrive really early you can play golf with the local crew - T-off is about 9:30am. If you've never been to Peacock Meadow in Golden Gate Park: This small meadow is at the East end of the park between the park headquarters building and the white conservatory of flowers. The nearest intersection is Fell and Stanyan. Fell veers off to the left at this point and the main road goes into the park, but this road is closed on Sunday. Only little thing about the place is that you will have to be back inside at 2 am, but it is right downtown so it is very convenient to get to, even from a bar.
