We currently have a site reserved in Scottsdale but are working on changing the site to Tempe. (at the University) You will still fly to the Phoenix aiport. I'm only telling you this as an FYI to look on the web page at www.footbag.org in a couple of weeks for updated directions to the site. If you plan on coming to the Phoenix tournament, Alaska Airlines has Web specials going on right now from Seattle, Spokane, Butte, and Portland. The price from Seattle and Portland roundtrip is $156. From Spokane it's $142 roundtrip and from Butte it's $169 roundtrip. These sales usually only last a couple of days, so I would hurry if you are planning on coming to Phoenix. Go to http://www.alaskaair.com Then go to web specials Choose your departure city and follow the directions they give. In addition, Southwest Airlines has web specials going on right now from numerous cities to PHoenix, but I think the deadline for purchasing the indredible rates is midnight tonight. Their URL is www.southwest.com I'm working on getting a discount on local hotels, but if you want to stay with one of us, let me know and I'll work on getting you some floor space. Vince has secured the site at the Old Post Office Pavilion which will give us a steady crowd of spectators who will be enjoying their meals in the food court while watching us style it up from 2 to 7pm, Saturday & Sunday. Open-level freestylers we hope to see back from last year are Peter Irish, Steve Goldberg, Josh Penney, Sunil Jani, Dan Kramer, Ethan Klein and of course Vince Bradley. There are many other up-and-coming freestylers we hope will make the trip back as well (representing VA, NY, PA, NC, MD...) Kendall and Steve Dusablon have decided to hold it in conjuction with the Bite at taste festival of Portland... it will be just like the footbag net at Worlds 97 or better. So mark your calendar for August 13-15, 1999 and RSVP for Skoolhouse floor space because it is gonna go fast. Buzz me with questions. Kendall KIC PS If Worlds 99 is not a conflict, the State Games of Oregon Footbag Tournament on July 9-11, 1999 will be a FREESTYLE tournament.... so there. From: Steve Goldberg To: announce@footbag.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain Sender: owner-announce@footbag.org Hi, everyone. You are invited to try out a new online Footbag community on the Excite Communities website. This is yet another free footbag resource, including a footbag chat room and much more. Just go to: http://www.footbag.org/community/ to try it. If you decide you want to join, click where it says "Want to Join?" and I'll add you. An online community is a website that allows all members to add their own resources, share them with others, chat and compare information, have discussions, and create resources (such as contact lists, Q&A's, and photo albums). It's a lot like a newsgroup (e.g., rec.sport.footbag) where anyone can post, but it allows more than just text and is a little more structured. The Footbag community on Excite is meant to augment the Footbag WorldWide website, not to replace it. You should continue to rely on the footbag.org club and event lists, since these are much better tailored to our sport. But the Footbag community on Excite is a great place to have raging debates, to chat, to post your own information that you want to share with others, etc. It's more of a "free-for-all" than the footbag.org website. To become a member and join your friends in this community, here's what you do: 1. Go to the Web address below to check out the community. http://www.footbag.org/community/ 2. Once you're there, click on the "Want to Join?" link on the left side of the screen or near the top-right of the page. 3. Enter your Excite user name and password. If you're new to Excite, you'll be asked to register for a free account. It's easy, and just takes a moment. ABOUT EXCITE COMMUNITIES Excite Communities is a place where you can share photos, chat privately, post events, and have discussions with other members. ---------------------------------------- (Note: if your email program doesn't let you just click on the addresses above, you can copy the one in which you are interested into the space near the top, called "Netsite" in Netscape Communicator, or "Address" in Microsoft Internet Explorer.)
