I never used this list, but now i think itĄs gotten time to inform everyone that... Footbag is getting big in Europe! If you havenĄt heard it yet, the media is realy interested in Footbag around here. We are contantly in the press or on tv. Two month ago I was in a tv-show together with Jan Zimmerman. 5.6 million people in Germany saw us doing a freestyle-demo. ...and we rocked the studio!!!! A week ago I heard that Jan Zimmerman and his Team ("Planet Footbag"), got invited into the biggest Sportshow in Switzerland. Yeahh!!!!! The Footstars in Berlin just got a clip in the Internet-tv-webside, (www.webfreetv.com) under "st”dte und n”chte" + "Berlin rocks" I suggest, you check it out. The quality is not perfekt, but I think The 2 min. clip turned out to be realy cool. The spring is comming, the cold rainy winterdays are over. Yeahh! Footbag is gettig realy popular over here in Europe! I live in Germany, and might just talk about Germany, but I hear the same things from Switzerland and France. I canĄt wait to see all the european players again a the European Championchips 2000 in Paris. For now, *Keep on kicking and enjoy the spring* *Ole Schnack* *European Footbag Committee* *German Footbag Association* *The Footbag Conspiracy* *FC Footstar e.V.* From owner-footbag@list.footbag.org Tue Apr 11 13:43:22 2000 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) id NAA14949 for footbag-outgoing; Tue, 11 Apr 2000 13:43:22 -0700 X-Authentication-Warning: list.footbag.org: majordom set sender to owner-footbag@footbag.org using -f Received: from clem.mscd.edu (pmdf@clem.mscd.edu [147.153.1.3]) by Market.NET (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id NAA16222 for ; Tue, 11 Apr 2000 13:34:10 -0700 Received: from localhost by clem.mscd.edu (PMDF V5.2-32 #39336) with SMTP id <0FSV00G01D4RVI@clem.mscd.edu> for footbag@footbag.org; Tue, 11 Apr 2000 14:34:03 -0600 (MDT) Date: Tue, 11 Apr 2000 14:34:02 -0600 (MDT) From: Brad Kaplan Subject: [footbag] Result info. True, there has not been a new issue out for quite some time, but keep your eyes open for a new issue to come out possibly before Worlds, but more likely a post-Worlds issue. There has been some debate in the KQ staff of whether to continue printing hard copies of the magazine, or completely switch it all over to the web, making it an 'on-line' magazine. Printing hard copies of a magazine is *expensive*, and with footbag sponsorships and funds slowly diminishing, an on-line version seems the most economical way to go. (everyone seems to want one at tournaments, but nobody seems to want to send in $$$ for a subscription) What do you say, kickers? Would an 'on-line' only version be suitable enough to fill all your footbag needs? Or do you think you need 'hardcopies' to get you footbag fix? Let me know, I'm interested in hearing the publics' opinion. -Cory Current ===== Cory Current------------------------------------------------ Kickers Quarterly Journalist http://www.schwafootbag.com ------------------------------------------------------------ From owner-footbag@list.footbag.org Mon Apr 17 12:50:31 2000 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) id MAA26382 for footbag-outgoing; Mon, 17 Apr 2000 12:50:31 -0700 X-Authentication-Warning: list.footbag.org: majordom set sender to owner-footbag@footbag.org using -f Received: from Market.NET (market.net [140.174.206.2]) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id MAA26379 for ; Mon, 17 Apr 2000 12:50:30 -0700 Received: from spectre.atext.com (spectre.atext.com [204.62.245.27]) by Market.NET (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id MAA18089 for ; Mon, 17 Apr 2000 12:45:50 -0700 Received: from kaos (kaos.atext.com [204.62.245.13]) by spectre.atext.com (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id MAA09357 for ; Mon, 17 Apr 2000 12:42:46 -0700 (PDT) Received: from [206.67.46.8] by kaos (8.8.8+Sun/Spike-2.0) id MAA09483; Mon, 17 Apr 2000 12:45:19 -0700 (PDT) Mime-Version: 1.0 X-Sender: brat@140.174.206.2 Message-Id: In-Reply-To: <20000417192611.15658.qmail@web2202.mail.yahoo.com> References: <20000417192611.15658.qmail@web2202.mail.yahoo.com> Date: Mon, 17 Apr 2000 12:45:16 -0700 To: footbag@footbag.org From: Steve Goldberg Subject: Re: [footbag] Kickers Quarterly?? Please reply directly to the requester so he/she can post a summary when the results are in. Please be sure to remove the list address from your reply when replying to an e-mail poll. Thanks. While freestyling out on the pier in Kona, a man approached me. He asked where I learned to delay a footbag like that... Yes, he said FOOTBAG, not Hacky-Sack. I mentioned kicking with all the people I have met over the past couple years and the experience and kindness I have received from the footbag community. He, then, claimed to know many of the Old Schoolers, Kenny, Jack Schoolcraft (spelling?), and several others. In fact, he was naming the names and I was just listening. So, it wasnt total BS. Anyhow, he said he was kicking around 1974 and competed quite a bit, against Kenny and all. Anyway, he told me to let as many of the old school footbaggers to know the Birdman said hello. He didnt give me another name, said you guys would know who he was... I hope he didnt feed me a line of BS and I just clogged up Steve's list with a useless message, but this was the only way I knew to get it out. BTW, he was a very cool cat, and he seemed to be doing real well. Thanx for your time. Later Ian D. Yes, The Birdman is a legend to all the Old Skoolers !! But, it was always a shame that he dropped out of the sport just as the sport evolved in the late 70's & early 80's. He was a huge talent at that time, along with Jack Schoolcraft , both in freestyle & footbag net. IF he had kept up his involvement & become a leader as others did, I am sure he would have been voted into the same founding group in 1997 as members of the Footbag Hall of Fame. If you or anyone else ever sees him again, please take the time to thank him for all he did do to inspire the growth of the game in the very early Oregon days of footbag, before it exploded nationally & internationally.
