The media had full attention again on the German Footbag Freestyle Battle 2000!!! Again there where a lot of newspapers reporting about the contest, radio was there and also an Internet TV channel was there. If anybody is interested in having a look on what they filmed during the GFFB2ooo, go on www.giga.de then you have to look unter "sports/fun" and then go to "specials". have fun and enjoy!!! keep on kicking!!! *Ole* *German Footbag Association* http://www.matrosen.de/gfa http://www.footbagfreestyle.de From owner-footbag@list.footbag.org Fri Sep 8 18:35:47 2000 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) id SAA31258 for footbag-outgoing; Fri, 8 Sep 2000 18:35:47 -0700 X-Authentication-Warning: list.footbag.org: majordom set sender to owner-footbag@footbag.org using -f Received: from foundationcomputing.net ([207.160.174.55]) by Market.NET (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id JAA23920 for ; Fri, 8 Sep 2000 09:53:59 -0700 Received: from [207.160.174.20] (HELO [207.160.174.20]) by foundationcomputing.net (CommuniGate Pro SMTP 3.2.4) with ESMTP id 101875 for footbag@footbag.org; Fri, 08 Sep 2000 06:50:50 -0500 User-Agent: Microsoft Outlook Express Macintosh Edition - 5.0 (1513) Date: Fri, 08 Sep 2000 11:53:09 -0700 Subject: [footbag] Ozarks Open, not! There is no Ozarks Open tournament. Just wanted to clarify that. Next July is my 20th anniversary of playing footbag (OK, 2 years of Hacky Sack and 18 years of footbag :). I was wondering if anyone in the Midwest would be interested in showing up for an informal footbag bash then? ------------------------------------------ Derrick "Funky Chicken" Fogle Still studying at the Old School Footbag U From owner-footbag@list.footbag.org Sun Sep 17 23:04:21 2000 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) id XAA17842 for footbag-outgoing; Sun, 17 Sep 2000 23:04:21 -0700 X-Authentication-Warning: list.footbag.org: majordom set sender to owner-footbag@footbag.org using -f Received: from dns1.provide.net (root@dns1.provide.net [216.86.64.33]) by Market.NET (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id SAA24011 for ; Fri, 15 Sep 2000 18:39:10 -0700 Received: from scratchyball.mcraig.org (matt@usr03-126.provide.net [216.86.66.126]) by dns1.provide.net (8.9.0/8.9.3) with SMTP id RAA27928 for ; Fri, 15 Sep 2000 17:05:46 -0400 (EDT) From: Matt Craig To: footbag@footbag.org Subject: [footbag] Promoting the sport Date: Fri, 15 Sep 2000 16:53:19 -0400 X-Mailer: KMail [version 1.0.21] Content-Type: text/plain MIME-Version: 1.0 Message-Id: <00091517014102.05878@scratchyball.mcraig.org> Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit Sender: owner-footbag@footbag.org The Michigan Footbag Organization and the 3rd Coast Footbag Department are shredding Sunday the 24th of September in East Lansing, MI, at the corner of Mac and Albert at 1pm near the campus of MSU. This is part of our effort to promote the sport of footbag in the state of Michigan by making a tour of the state to visit as many other shredders as possible. I am sure someone else has undertaken this before: Contact all the clubs in your state/region, set a date and go kick with each one of them. If you have done this, how successful was the "tour". Did you kick with many other clubs and did you draw lots of shredders/crowds? Do you have any ideas for making the "tour" better? matt -- MichiganFootbag.org From owner-footbag@list.footbag.org Thu Sep 21 16:30:41 2000 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) id QAA25954 for footbag-outgoing; Thu, 21 Sep 2000 16:30:41 -0700 X-Authentication-Warning: list.footbag.org: majordom set sender to owner-footbag@footbag.org using -f Received: from c014.sfo.cp.net (c014-h001.c014.sfo.cp.net [209.228.12.65]) by Market.NET (8.9.3/8.9.3) with SMTP id IAA10061 for ; Thu, 21 Sep 2000 08:51:03 -0700 Received: (cpmta 22881 invoked from network); 21 Sep 2000 08:43:45 -0700 Received: from 3ff877e5.dsl.flashcom.net (HELO ul2ju) (63.248.119.229) by smtp.flashcom.net (209.228.12.65) with SMTP; 21 Sep 2000 08:43:45 -0700 X-Sent: 21 Sep 2000 15:43:45 GMT From: "Mike Stoler" To: Subject: [footbag] Takraw in Olympics? References: Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-footbag@footbag.org Takraw is not a medal sport in the Sydney Olympics but is being positioned to be a full medal sport as early as 2008. Takraw IS a medal sport in the Asian Games, which is governed by the Olympic Committee of Asia and has almost double the # of athletes as the Olympics and is held every 4 years. The road to the Olympics is not a short one nor is it necessarily the end all be all. Look at Beach Volleyball. Beach Volleyball was doing great in the US until the Federation International Volleyball got involved, got it into the games in Atlanta, then proceeded to screw up the US pro league by taking the qualifying process hostage. Keep the faith and good things will happen to footbag. Peace, Kurt
