Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii"; format=flowed Sender: owner-footbag@list.footbag.org Hi all, I understand that there will be a pre-Worlds kick in Golden Gate Park, SF this Sunday (Peacock or Sharon Meadow?). Is there anything organized for Saturday? I assume there will be a few out-of-town visitors who might want to practice all weekend. -Edwin From owner-footbag@list.footbag.org Wed Aug 14 11:28:55 2002 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by llic.net (8.9.3/8.9.3/Debian 8.9.3-21) id LAA28613 for footbag-outgoing@list.footbag.org; Wed, 14 Aug 2002 11:28:55 -0700 From: "Ted Huff" Received: from Thehuff1@aol.com by imo-d10.mx.aol.com (mail_out_v33.5.) id z.18e.c4f537e (3699) for ; Mon, 12 Aug 2002 23:01:36 -0400 (EDT) Message-ID: <18e.c4f537e.2a89d090@aol.com> Date: Mon, 12 Aug 2002 23:01:36 EDT Subject: [footbag] Ryan Mulroney: Still the world's best freestyler To: footbag@footbag.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/alternative; boundary="part1_18e.c4f537e.2a89d090_boundary" X-Mailer: AOL 6.0 for Windows US sub 10572 --part1_18e.c4f537e.2a89d090_boundary Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Sender: owner-footbag@list.footbag.org Ryan Mulroney, although not scoring well enough in some finals' judges eyes, is still the #1 freestyler in the world. Just my opinion, after he did his finals routine on Saturday night, as the last on stage due to his #1 seeding. His routine was flawless. It was in sync to the chosen music for 2 minutes, and by the counting judge , included 380 ADDS, WTIH ZERO DROPS !! HOW'S THAT FOR DEFENDING HIS 2 TIME CHAMPIONSHIP ?? !! ?? WHAT MORE COULD HE HAVE DONE TO DEFEND HIS TITLE ? ! ? Per the general response of those in attendance, he defended his title very well. No knock on the new "Jedi" , 15 year old Vasek Klouda of The Czech Republic, as his routine was brilliant, with 316 ADDS, but with 1 drop. Unfortunately for Ryan, Vasek went first, and the judges mistook their agenda , therefore not allowing Ryan some of the scoring marks given to Vasek. Vasek is amazing, with huge style well beyond his years of experience. He , and other young "blades" are the future, but not quite yet. Peter Irish also had a HUGE finals, placing 3rd, with his routine dedicated to Rippin' Rick Reese. My conclusion: Freestyle is awesome worldwide, and Ryan Mulroney is just as much a champion , as is Vasek. Congratulations to both. Prague 2003 Worlds will be very interesting ! BUT, there will be some exciting announcements of competition before that. Look for 1 BIG 1 by October 1st, 2002. Unfortunately I was unable to attend this years finals, so I'm extremely interested in hearing as much as I can about this years occurrences. The subjective judges on the Judging panels were the best I had to offer as an administrator in this years freestyle event- 4 members of BAP from various generations, and a knowledgable freestyler who has been a valued member of freestyle events stafff at Worlds for the past 4 years. These judges judged every round of the Open Freestyle Event, so I can not take it lightly that they are receiving criticism where there may be misunderstandings of at the least, their amount of volunteered work, and at the worst- their ability to perceive quality footbag routines. I will be looking into the results more carefully as soon as I receive the full results. Meanwhile, who else out there saw controversies? The only way we cna know a system needs imporvement is if the public and the players make note of what doesn't seem right. Thanks for your heads up Ted. l8r vincent bradley --- Ted Huff wrote: > Ryan Mulroney, although not scoring well enough in > some finals' judges eyes, > is still the #1 freestyler in the world.
