You give the german ranking in freestyle and not the german ranking in net where your players dominated!!! And what's happening with women's net in Europe? To clarify this: There were virtually no net players other than Germans. If I recall it correctly, Vojta and Dexter from Prague were the only non-German net team. There were female net players, they competed in Open, what else. What is your point, Yves? Should I have posted two identical rankings for net? Should we have made a women's division for two or three female net players? The purpose of the German ranking for open freestyle simply is to make the inner-German places more obvious. It has no deep-going meaning. It is sad enough that there are so few female footbag players. But those few do mostly start with freestyle when starting to play footbag. It's just more attractive in the beginning. A general increase in female footbag players will enlarge the number of women's net competitors, and maybe there will be a women's net division one day. Or we don't have it the segregative way and they'll just compete in open. Yves, I did not quite get what you were trying to say, I hope I did answer your unclear questions anyhow. He is the most incredible coach and should get lots of credit for the great Female Net Players in Montreal. I'm very glad to hear there are at least some female net players in Europe! Here's how we deal with the small numbers of women net players in Texas - The women can play in both men's and women's - they can play open (or intermediate if that's an option) to get more games and to get better but - we also have a separate competition for the women only (yes - unfortunately here there are sometimes only 2 or 3 players). Given that it's only a small number it's not too much trouble to run and we (the women) just fit it in when we don't hold up the other brackets. The idea is that we give the women titles, awards etc. and then hopefully other women will be inspired to compete for titles (prizes whatever) and aren't too intimidated, discouraged that they have to play men. I have gotten many women to play net because there were only two competitors and they were guaranteed a 3rd place prize, award or whatever. Sometimes they will play just out of pride of being female and will get out there just because there are only a few women competing. This is how I started - I went to a tournament to watch and for fun many years ago and someone said Hey Tina - there are only 2 women competing in net - you will at least win a footbag for 3rd place - that's the first time I ever even played net! (ancient history). Sometimes the women will play in intermediate but we encourage them to compete in both intermediate and women's if there is plenty of time. What about mixed doubles??? I think this is a great event to encourage women to play and it's a lot of fun too. The men have an incentive to get some women to play - ( playing more net!). P.S. To all the female freestylers in Europe - Freestyle is a great warm up for net ;-) Tina Lewis.
