CHEAP AIRFARES on AMERICAN NETSAAVERS to Midwest Regionals from the cities listed below.!!! Join their listserve and get an email of cheap airfares every Wednesday for fares on the following friday through monday weekend. Chicago is a major hub for American and we get lots of cheap airfares through this listing, they are round trip, and good starting in either city. The major restrictions are something like this: Fly out on Friday or Saturday, return the next sunday or Monday. Call early and get great fares at the last minute. (I suggest using the 800 number, have your credit card ready.) - If you do not have Internet access, you should call 1-800-344-6702 or your travel agent to make a booking. ( I Recommend using the 800 number instead of internet access) (Ask for netsaaver fares) The following fares are for travel between Chicago O'hARE and the following cities, originating in either city: ROUNDTRIP!!!!! Coach!!!! NONSTOP!!@!!! $99 Buffalo, NY (BUF) $69 Ft. Wayne, IN (FWA) # $69 Green Bay, WI (GRB) # $139 Houston Intercontinental, TX (IAH) $129 USD/ Montreal, Quebec, Canada (YUL)** $178 CAD $169 Orange County, CA (SNA) $99 Rochester, NY (ROC) $89 St. Louis, MO (STL) $69 Toledo, OH (TOL) # $129 Tulsa, OK (TUL) **************** (Note, this is the third time I typed this, so there may be minor typos, but the prices, cities and phone numbers above are correct) Come on out the our 14th Annual Midwest Regionals in a suburb of the windy city, called Mt. Prospect. We are close to O'Hare and not far from Midway (although you wouldn't want to walk from there). We're in the same park as the past four years, but if you need directions, just call or email us. There is a players party on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights [the Bulls finals games are on Friday and Sunday, be there when the entire region goes nuts when the Bulls win in game 5 on sunday night. :-) ]. So if you survive the pre-registration party on Friday night, you might want to be on-site to kick for WGN TV between 7 and 9AM Saturday morning. They will be doing 2 hours, cutting in and out of our venue all morning. We do a players meeting, play consecutives, net, freestyle and golf on Saturday 'til dusk (so bring your coolers and sun shades to the park for a long day on Saturday). Then, if you survived the party from Saturday night (BYOB and food), you need to be at golf by 8:00 Sunday AM. We tie it up with semi-finals and finals of net and freestyle 2nd round. And (for the triple-cripple) another party on Sunday night at a nearby restaurant with plenty of good vegetarian food and other food too, also 2 for 1 pizza's until 7:00 (Bulls game starts at 6:30, if there is a sixth game). Hope to see you there! There was a kick at Alki beach for all of the early Friday arrivals. Friday night, the early crew rolled into Greg Potts' house for a mellow pre- registration party. We got through most of the registration process, broke out the totally cool ECO 98 t-shirts (logo compliments of Kelly Hobkirk), and had a little food and brew. Well somebody must be doing something right, because we couldn't have asked for much better weather this weekend! After morning setup and registration Saturday, we cranked up the tunes and got the competition started. Piecora's New York Pizza once again treated us to many of their fine pizza pies both days. We made it through the final matches in the Novice and Advanced categories, and through the semifinals in Mixed Doubles and Women's and Open Singles on Saturday, saving the three final matches for Sunday afternoon. We converged on Simon and Heather's house Saturday night for some great barbecue and a relaxing hot tub. We also took this occasion to have a little going away ceremony for two of Seattle's long-time top competitors Rick Bates and Chris "Gator" Routh. Rick is moving to Montana, and Gator is moving to Arizona. We'll miss you guys... Sunday morning a few tireless warriors braved the timed consecutive event, and then the doubles footbag net was under way. We started the final matches pretty late at around 5pm, but there was some great competition for the rest of the afternoon! Some dark clouds rolled in after the first finals match, and we did get a slight sprinkling. Not enough to hinder the fantastic play, but unfortunately there were no photos for most of the finals matches. After the award ceremony, the tear down, and the goodbyes, we were left wondering how we crammed that much fun into just two days. For those who don't know Wham-O has sent out two college guys (Corey and Chris) in one of those new volkswagons decorated with Wham-O logo. They are stopping at sporting goods stores and girls and boys clubs demonstrating Wham-O products including Hacky Sacks, Frisbees, Hula Hoops etc. These guys are doing a great job and the kids at the boys and girls clubs were a blast. They especially need help for demos with these big clubs. (We had 180 kids here in Austin and divided them into 3 shows with stations for each of the products). They are a little over half way into the tour and now heading to - Denver, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Las Vegas and lots of other places. Be on the lookout and show up to support them. There is also supposed to be a Wham-O web page but I haven't been able to find it. If you know its up and/or where it is please let me know. I can also give you dates for Cities from the T-Shirt they gave me if you want more specific info. .... Wishing I could go to the U.S. Open..... tina lewis. Content-type: text/plain; charset=US-ASCII Content-transfer-encoding: 7bit X-Mailer: AOL 3.0 for Windows 95 sub 51 Sender: owner-footbag@footbag.org Has anyone out there in the world of footbag tried using footbag as a meditational exercise? I would be very interested to know if anything like this has been seriously undertaken. While consecutively kicking, I have pretty good control of a footbag. I have achieved over 3000 consecutive kicks in the past. I have since stopped counting while i kick. Numbers do not interest me. In eliminating counting, I have found that there is certain pacifying quality to be found in repeating the same kick again and again and again ( i use almost only inside kicks in this process.) An almost trance-like state can be induced. In such a state, I become more acutely aware of thought, of the rapidity with which thought comes and goes. I am aware of awareness itself, so to speak. And, the more i try to concentrate on just kicking the footbag alone -- to the exclusion of all other thought -- the more impossible the task seems to become. Thus, the meditational process unfolds. What i envision is a meditional form similar to that of Zen Buddhism's zazen , which translates into "just sitting." It will instead be "just kicking." Perfection is found when one's mind is only occupied by the present kick. Ultimately, the mind becomes fully at one with the kicking and the feeling extends to the kicker's whole environment. I have never practiced any formal meditation, and am not an expert of any kind. I just have a deep interest in Eastern philosophy, and have recognized a connection here with footbag, which also interests me. I was just curious if anyone has experimented with anything relative to what i have been talking about. I am new here and I am afraid that i may be asking the wrong circle of people. Still, if anyone has heard anything of footbag and meditation being intermingled please direct me to any available information on the subject. It would be very apprectiated.
