Does anyone have the information on Chicago '99? I just need to know when it is going to be so I can steer clear of any conflicting committments. The last info sent to the list was that it should be 2nd week of July (if at 1st choice site) or last week of July (2nd choice site). I have been hearing stuff about it being in June and coinciding with the Chicago Food Festival. Any truth to that? Host hotel info and rates would be nice, too. This info would be very helpful to get ASAP. Thanks. Just returned from about 3 months in east asia (Laos, Thailand and Japan). Made the incredibly hasty, load-conscious, dumb-ass decision NOT to take my Lavers - aarggh. BUT... Takraw reigns supreme throughout most of Southeast Asia - as many of you net-heads are probably well aware of - and I ended up skooling with the large, plastic, weaved projectile about 3 times a week. An added bonus to Takraw (Katah - Laos) in SEAsia was that most of the courts were painted on the ground in front of some beautiful/mystical/eastern What (Temple) - providing a magical backdrop to the game. The locals throughout were flabergasted at my ability, as a "farang," to kick it around. Many times I would approach a group of Takrawians - motion with my feet and eyes that I wanted to play - and they would hastily reject me - thinking I was some random whity looking to mock their serious pastime. But when they saw that I could jam a bit - they welcomed me with open arms - randomly loving my left outside kicks and occasional sole spikes. Good times. It was also great to be able to use my head to contact the ball. ALso - for all you stylers - I would often bust out my sack and perform some basic stylings - then pass it on to the Laosian/Thai locals - only to see them easily hit toe stalls, flying clippers and the occasional clipper stall!!! The cultural climate and soil in Southeast Asia is incredibly ripe for a healthy dose of footbag infusion. I wish that I could have stayed longer- WITH MY LAVES! Now back in Philly - workin out the kinks - reading about gnarly/sick/twisted/regurgitated mobius-> barroque! Nuclear sets (tried today to no avail) and such. Nice work shredders! Peace - Ethan East Coast Christmas Jam avec Sunil, Vince, Peter Irish, J(Mr. Saucy)P DK, etc???
