It's a motion set from toe. Some people think of it like fairy dyno with no plant. And not to be judgmental, but "titty twister" is far and away the worst name I've ever heard for a move. : D Regarding Motion, it'd be really cool if somebody could list all the motion stuff Abshire hits. I've seen him hit Locomotion (it's to blurriest what food processor is to blurry whirl) and he has told me he has hit scorpion's tail style motion too. So I think the move you are talking about is actually called a toe-set motion. I also started hitting this a little while ago after seeing my friend Zeke hit it, it feels real smooth. It's not a new, but it still is a pretty fly move. Oh, the bad news is that I think it might be a 4 add, because it is basically a double refraction set from toe. I'm not quite sure about that though. Does anybody know out there know if I am right about this, just curious. From a fair amount of experience in the martial arts combined with 16 years of hardcore shred I would have to recommend against doing any kind of lifting or power training with weights for the legs, leg press, leg extension, leg curl, ect. I would also recommend against any type of squats, basically anything that will add more bulk to the legs. This will only tighten the muscles, even with a regimen of stretching, which is exactly what you dont want to do for freestyle. It can also mess with muscle memory and the fine tuning that is needed for high level shred. I did many months southern shaolin kung fu practice 5 days a week and the combination of power training the legs, sitting in horse stance, ect. was definately a detriment to freestyle and the flexability and fluidity needed for the skills. Otherwise this sounds like a great plan, although in most cases if you're training for shred, the best thing for freestyle is more freestyle, in my professional opinion. That's the part you generally look at. Thick, heavy, hard, unbreathable, unbendable, never-gonna-feel-the-bag leather. There are lots of possibilities regarding footbag shoes. Rod Lavers are just an 'easy out'. However what works for some does not work for others. Lee Perry says, "Experiment!" There are running shoes and cross-trainers that might fit the bill. Shopping is fun! Anyway, for information's sake I quickly compiled (and because I'm such a nice guy- right, Swampy?) a short list of shops within several hundred miles of myself which sell Rod Lavers. Although these shops (and I am not advertising or advocating them) sell Rod Lavers, as far as I know only the 3stripe sells 'Milleniums'. They were $54.95 four days ago. However, considering the Classic Rod Lavers are now being made in China, from lighter, more flexible materials, they may do you as well. Though they may not be listed on all the sites I am *absolutely positive* they carry the sacred shoes. Just call them and ask. I think it's a stepping paradox dada-curve its job's notation should be something like this: CLIP > OP IN [DEX] > OP IN [PDX][DEX] > (NO PLANT WHILE) OP OUT [DEX] > OP CLIP [XBD][DEL] I'm not sure if the plant notation is correct, but it's just like a dada-curve. Now, I think this is a *little* like a blurry drifter, apart from the fact that i am nowhere close to hitting that, or a paradox drifter either for that matter. Yet I do count six adds for this trick, so my question is: did I forget something, or is this just one of those "the add system is very generous" type of trick?? thanks in advance, Max From owner-freestyle@list.footbag.org Thu May 10 11:10:52 2001 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) id LAA26241 for freestyle-outgoing; Thu, 10 May 2001 11:10:52 -0700 X-Authentication-Warning: list.footbag.org: majordom set sender to owner-freestyle@footbag.org using -f Received: from clem.mscd.edu (clem.mscd.edu [147.153.1.3]) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id LAA04555 for ; Fri, 4 May 2001 11:46:38 -0700 Received: from CONVERSION-DAEMON.clem.mscd.edu by clem.mscd.edu (PMDF V6.0-24 #46115) id <0GCT04601QFUAR@clem.mscd.edu> for freestyle@list.footbag.org; Fri, 04 May 2001 12:38:18 -0600 (MDT) Received: from webmail.mscd.edu ([147.153.1.20]) by clem.mscd.edu (PMDF V6.0-24 #46115) with ESMTP id <0GCT043N2QFT8Q@clem.mscd.edu>; Fri, 04 May 2001 12:38:18 -0600 (MDT) Date: Fri, 04 May 2001 12:28:12 -0600 From: Brad Kaplan Subject: RE: [freestyle] Could this be my first six add? The add system is very generous with this trick. In reality Pdx Dada Curve is easier than a Pdx Drifter and the same goes for the Blurry versions (IMHO). I didn't really look on the web for them or anything but a friend told me that Copelands sports might have them. Sure enough I made the trip to Copelands and they had the Milleniums. I serioulsly recommend these shoes to anyone who has been shredding in Original Lavers for awhile since the Milleniums are much lighter. I can do paradon a hell of a lot easier with these shoes than I could with the Origies. There is both good and bad with these shoes. Yes, they are lighter and cheaper to buy, but I don't think the soles of them hold up as long as the Original Lavers do. Just thought someone out there might want an insight on them. I like them. Yes Max, this is one of those cases. To be more exact the add system is counting "add categories" and not difficulty. In general, adds do a pretty good job of tracking difficulty. In general. Often there is a lot of leeway, and this is one example. If you've ever hit paradox drifter, compare it with paradox dada and ask yourself; now, which one took longer to learn, requires a more controlled set, and more energy? More specifically, which is harder to execute? Now try blurry dada and blurry drifter and ask yourself the same questions. Another example is atom smasher v. butterfly. So the answer is yes, you hit a six-add move. Congratulations. Now link it between two other different ones, and color me flabbergasted while you're at it. Good luck. Secondly, I've been playing team freestyle for about six months now and I was wondering if anyone had any video footage of some good team runs. I just can't seem to find any on the web. I know that I have improved my freestyle play a lot due to the videos provided by www.footbag.org and other web-sites, yet my imagination isn't so boundless when it comes to team freestyle. The only videos I have are from the europeen masters 2000, where Sam Conlon & Steve Goldberg and Tu & Aaron where shredding the rest of the cometition away. As you may not know, footbagging (not to mention team freestyle) is relativally new in France and I know that my friend and I are the only team freestyle team there. If anyone has any information as to where I could get hold of such team videos, or team tricks to try, I'd greatly appreciate it. thank you all in advance, Max From owner-freestyle@list.footbag.org Thu May 10 11:21:50 2001 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) id LAA26386 for freestyle-outgoing; Thu, 10 May 2001 11:21:50 -0700 X-Authentication-Warning: list.footbag.org: majordom set sender to owner-freestyle@footbag.org using -f Received: from market.llic.net (sql.market.net [209.125.90.21]) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id OAA08996 for ; Mon, 7 May 2001 14:02:36 -0700 Received: from hotmail.com (law2-f133.hotmail.com [216.32.181.133]) by market.llic.net (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id OAA13870 for ; Mon, 7 May 2001 14:02:36 -0700 Received: from mail pickup service by hotmail.com with Microsoft SMTPSVC; Mon, 7 May 2001 13:50:28 -0700 Received: from 142.177.197.22 by lw2fd.hotmail.msn.com with HTTP; Mon, 07 May 2001 20:50:28 GMT X-Originating-IP: [142.177.197.22] From: "Cole Hobson" To: freestyle@footbag.org Subject: [freestyle] Want Shredder's Instant Messenger Info Date: Mon, 07 May 2001 20:50:28 -0000 Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed Message-ID: X-OriginalArrivalTime: 07 May 2001 20:50:28.0526 (UTC) FILETIME=[5926C4E0:01C0D737] Sender: owner-freestyle@footbag.org Hey everyone, I'm just wondering who out there in the freestyle community has any of the following programs: ICQ, Aol Instant Messenger, or MSN Instant Messenger. I had the pleasure of riding the bus for a few hours to be part of the East Coast Championships a week or so ago. It was a blast - the east coast scene is definitely exploding. First of all I must say that seeing Peter Irish freestyle made my week-end. I jumped in his circle for about 30 minutes and I still have a nosebleed from the intense spanking I experienced. It's also nice to see new players picking up the sport. The Montreal crew (Sebastien Duchesne - Kolo - Marylin Demuy) arrived on site VERY early saturday morning - 8am or so. Surprinsingly 2 freestylers showed up soon after we got there! Not surpringly it was their first tournament and didn't know stylers are a lazy bunch! They were Bob and John (from Virginia?) and they rocked all week-end long. These kids are going to be good. Nino will rock real hard soon enough, Jake from PA, Josh from Maryland, Dave Sanchez, etc. 2 Scotts showed up. I didn't get to see Davidson shred much but I sure witnessed Scott Bevier's amazing links! Non stop action. Double-dexing all over the place, tearing it up with big moves like atomic dlo, and then partying all night long. Congrats to Scott, Alex, and Kaiser from PA for being the hardcorest shredders on the East Coast. And also thanks to Alex Faber for entertaining us on Saturday night with interesting stories about Scott Bevier's balls. During the last shred of the week-end on the net site Sebastien and I tried the hardest tricks and links we could think of. He hit Haze to Pixie-Paradon. I hit Frontside Symposium Ducking Legbeater. It was fun. Oh yeah. Matt Churney showed up. It's always good to see him kick with his unique style. On Sunday night we had to leave. And belive me we wanted to stay in DC - especially because we were playing a cool snowboarding game on PS2 at Vince's place! Hey East-Coasters! Keep kicking... and try not to move to SF when you get better! -Yacine ps: I could not thank Vince Bradley and the volunteers enough for holding a great event. _______________________________________________________ Send a cool gift with your E-Card http://www.bluemountain.com/giftcenter/ From owner-freestyle@list.footbag.org Fri May 11 15:13:27 2001 Received: (from majordom@localhost) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) id PAA03284 for freestyle-outgoing; Fri, 11 May 2001 15:13:27 -0700 X-Authentication-Warning: list.footbag.org: majordom set sender to owner-freestyle@footbag.org using -f Received: from market.llic.net (sql.market.net [209.125.90.21]) by list.footbag.org (8.9.3/8.9.3) with ESMTP id QAA28599 for ; Thu, 10 May 2001 16:05:58 -0700 Received: from web4406.mail.yahoo.com (web4406.mail.yahoo.com [216.115.105.37]) by market.llic.net (8.9.3/8.9.3) with SMTP id QAA25724 for ; Thu, 10 May 2001 16:05:47 -0700 Message-ID: <20010510230536.19270.qmail@web4406.mail.yahoo.com> Received: from [151.201.208.245] by web4406.mail.yahoo.com; Thu, 10 May 2001 16:05:36 PDT Date: Thu, 10 May 2001 16:05:36 -0700 (PDT) From: Caleb Abraham Subject: [freestyle] Pixie Ducks To: freestyle@footbag.org MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Sender: owner-freestyle@footbag.org Hey shredders, Once again, I am bewildered by the things I see others do. In fact a police officer told us to work the crowd for money and the officer put down a dollar to get it started. There will be no competition to speak of but we will be Jamming from Noon till well after dark. And we are guaranteed to attract huge crowds and expose literally thousands of people to shred each day, The entire CIC club will be there in force and Im sure Scott Davidson, and James Risden will make it out as well. I would also really like to see Greg Nelson, Phil Summers, Alexander Faber, and Matt Lewandowski there too. Im sure me or other members of the CIC will be able to accommodate any out of towner's so just E-mail me or one of the contacts on the Chicago Inner Circle club page on footbag.org it you need a place to stay. Please do not write me to get the address for 3stripe. I will try to find it online right now, as Alex should have done, if he couldn't read the address of the coupon he should have received in his players package from east coast. Found it. Of course I told the guy about the whole crazy footbag thing that we're all into.. They don't normally mail order, but since I explained that he could probably sell every laver in the store (they have the classics as well.. the light ones from China)he said he thought things could be worked out.
