I'm not a footbagger, not yet. The bags I've been making are for juggling, and the materials I've been using are real suede and leather with millet as filler. So far, the only bags that turn out decently round are 6-panel, because this design allows me to place the panels in opposite directions, thus neutralizing the problem with the material stretching more in one direction than the other. Today I recieved samples of artificial suede and artificial leather. I'm not sure what ultra-suede is but I believe that what I have here is called 'al cantara'. Is that in fact ultra-suede? The price translated to US currency is $35 per yard. I suspect that it's not what I want though, because it needs hemming, and that's not what you guys do when you use ultra-suede, right?. Also, this material stretches diagonally but not vertically or horizontally. Does ultra-suede stretch at all, and if so, does it stretch more in one direction than the other? If you use a material that doesn't stretch evenly, how do you place the panels to make a round 12-- or 32-panel bag out of it? I live in Stockholm, Sweden, and my chances of finding good material don't seem too great. Actually, someone suggested I go to London or Paris to find what I need. I have also been looking for ultra-leather. If the samples I have actually are ultra-leather, the it's a lot cheaper than ultra-suede. The different qualities of it shift and most of the samples do stretch unevenly. Does anyone have experience with ultra-leather? You see I'm pretty much at loss when it comes to material, so I can't even get started for real with my adventures in multi-panels. ("Hi Paul" is your line. haahaa) sorry couldn't resist. I currently live in Nashville TN and I teach Arts and Crafts part time to teenagers. When I am not teaching, or working, I am at school. I currently attend ITT Tech. During our breaks between classes is when the "hackying" takes place. I love it! I, of course, am very new at the whole thing and I was very interested in the crocheting of the footbag. I believe they refer to it as a SIPA footbag, or a Guatemalan one. the designs that I have seen are very cool, but I would love to learn how to make some of my own. That way I can teach these teenage kids that I teach, hoe to make their own. They would love. They already have shown an interest in the sport already. Thanks to your truly. Well any instructions and or pictorial step by step instructions are gladly welcome. Thanks! Paul McKay Nashville, TN pmckay@bap.com
