Short bio of myself: I'm 23 years old, living in Winona, MN, going to school at Western Wisconsin Tech. School in LaCrosse, WI for computer programming. I've been playing footbag for about 5 years now, but I wasn't obsessed with it until the beginning of last summer, when I discovered the toe stall. About halfway through summer, I saw patterns for footbags on footbag.org, and I knew that I had to make them. I've made at least a dozen or so now, experimenting with different fillers and such (cous-cous is one of my favorite fillers...just can't get it wet 8O) I started making them with suede cloth, which was the only thing I could find around my area. I just ordered some ultrasuede, and I'm making some with that now. The fabric is pretty nice, once it gets broken in. I am also in the process of starting a footbag club at Winona State University. I can't "officially" start it, since I'm not a student at WSU, but I'll just have someone else hand in all the paperwork once I finish it. Well, that's me, now down to the "meat-and potatoes", so to say, of the email. The patterns on footbag.org are great and all, but does anybody know where I can find different patterns? I've heard of the 50p bag, and a 280p bag that I would love to try! Any response would be great. Thanks. I am a 15- years old boy living in finland. I started to play footbag in this summer. I have not seen allmost any action on this sewing list in the time I have been playing so I decided to write something to the list. Well... Of the all bags on footbag.org/ patterns I have tried the patterns between 12-32 and just started the one with 64. so, I wanted to ask : do somebody know were you could find the gif of the 8 paneled footbag as on the flipsiders page or some else with not so many panels. Or do you know some other good "pattern" page. Another problem is the material in the bags. What do you use? I would love to get some facile or ultrasuede light but it is so difficult to get it. I quess many sewers have this problem. Well... hope I gave some action to the list(... if there are any members on it). It would be nice to have some of it on this list too. If you want a copy of the big number patterns I will e-mail you a copy of what I have. As far as fabric, I mostly use Pig Suede (real leather) and Poliester fabric known as suede cloth. filler I went to a plastic molding company and asked if I could have or buy some plastic pellets and they gave me a whole bucket full. I hope that this will help. shred wildly Mark Telman mtelman@hotmail.com >From: "felix zenger" >To: sewing@footbag.org >Subject: [sewing] patterns >Date: Sat, 29 Dec 2001 12:39:31 +0200 > >Hi! > >I am a 15- years old boy living in finland. Trust me, there are many, many fine and committed sack makers across the planet. Footbag making is a true, underground art. Myself, I've been sewing bags since 1985. I supported myself for several years sewing and selling them one by one. Ultimately, I tired and ran out of time to make too many more multi-panel marvels. After experimenting with the various geometric forms, pents, hexes, 12, 32, 64, I now derive most of my sewing pleasure not from the intricacy and perfection of the work but from the custom, one of a kind quality of my particular hand made footbags. I selectively attach wings, fins, tassles, bells, bangles, etc, to colorful, high-quality four, 12 and occasionally 32 panel fleece or ultra suede bags. What began as a gimmick half a decade ago is still an excellent way to improve the game for beginner, intermediate (even expert) kickers. The wings and tassles help by slowing and visually highlighting the flight of the bag. I claim no patent rights to any of it (as some early sewers did try to do...) Rather I teach peace and cooperation through footbag and share all my patterns and ideas with anyone who shares my love of footbag and interest in passing it on. Look here http://www.valiinet.com/~dbotkin/custom.html for some of my classic designs. (Stars and teardrops is an original creation and should be credited.)
