The wings don't affect stalling if the body of the bag and wings are soft enough. I actually find them to help stabilize and control the bag as it settles on the foot or other body part. (Actually, I'm more of a free flowing, dancing, open-field type of kicker. I always found the extreme technical tricks fascinating to watch but interuptive of the cooperative essence of the sport.) Don't use rice. It changes, absorbs moisture and disintegrates quickly. If you have no other option, lentils, cherry pits, or small grain popcorn (anything hard and small) are probably adequate, tho purists would scoff! Plastic pellets are the raw material of nearly all plastic fabrication. Look for a plastic bag factory or injection molding or plastics extrusion plant. Here in the States I just go behind the factory where they unload the raw material and collect the ample spillage off the railroad tracks =-) Good luck sewing and don't forget to share your products with the list. Do you understand the concept of the "blind stitch"? This is the same sewing pattern, only viewed and executed from the outside after the "birth" of the mostly sewn bag. Or is it the final stitch, placement and hiding that is fouling you up. A basic description of the process is found on my sack sewing page. If that fails you, we'll walk you thru it. That's why we're here. I read your page in sewing and I think what my problem was that after sewing a 32-panel bag i was rushing to finish it off and not giving the same amount of attention to the last seam as i had given the rest of them. I think I understand your concept of the "blind stitch" and I'm gonna make another 32-panel right away. I'll let you know how I make out. oh yeah ... I completely agree with you about the sewing process ... i almost got issued divorce papers after sitting on my balcony for six hours stitching a bunch of tiny peices of suede together .. it's almost as if you're in a trance ... it's sooooo relaxing ... i love it !! thanks again man Dustin >From: "Daniel Botkin" >Reply-To: >To: "Dr. F" , >Subject: Re: [sewing] the last seam .... grrrrrr >Date: Wed, 21 Apr 1999 08:46:10 -0400 > >Dustin, > >What seams (pun) to be the problem?
