I am new to the world of footbag within a year. Not far into that year I picked up on the idea of making my own footbags, saving some money. At first I was content with constructing my elementary level 3 panel cylinder footbags, and still am to some extent. Since then, I got the patterns that Eric Tiffany has posted and others he has not. The 12 panel footbag I made out of a crappy synthetic suede turned out to be way to small, because my printer shrunk the pattern. The twenty-four panel just sucked and that was my last big project. I've lost a lot of spunk because of the failures, but that's why I joined this list. Maybe with the advice of All you other footbag engineers, I'll have some successes, and still maybe not. I started out making my own footbags about a yer ago and had a lot of trouble. The firt 2 ended up really obling and didn;t work worth a crap. Now, the only bag that I make is the 32-panel soccer ball style. All it takes is a lot of time and patience. The more meticulous you are when sewing, the better the results will be. Give it some time and practice. The material I use is Ultrasuede since I cannot find any facile locally. Ultrasuede works pretty damn good and I've had pretty good comments about my footbag quality .... my footbagging quality on the other hand, thats another story. hehe. Dont give up ! Sewing your own footbag is a very rewarding (albeit time consuming) hobby. Leather can be challenging when you're first getting the feel for the dimentions and stitching tension. Let us know.
